Your Torah of Grandparenting – The Jewish Grandparents Network

Jewish Grandparents Network

What is your Torah of grandparenting? What mitzvot and values guide your relationship with your grandchildren and family?

Jane Shapiro, master Jewish educator and grandparent, ignites our own loving self-reflection in her short video Torah of Bubbiehood. In this session based on Jane’s video, we will celebrate the theme and spirit of Shavuot as we discuss:

- The significance of your own grandparent name.
- Jane’s 3 mitzvot or values of Bubbiehood:
1. Tzimtzum (contraction): The overpowering love we feel for our grandchildren yet the realization we need to step back and allow our adult children to parent in their own way.
2. Z’man kadosh (sacred time): Why it is important (and often hard) to designate time and to be fully present with our grandchildren.
3. Sippur (storytelling): How our stories create an arc of time that can impart wisdom and link generations.
-The values you live by in your own relationship with your grandchildren and family.

Check out JGN online and they can send you the recording of the session.
